Writers

I would like to share this article by Jill Domschot for the edification of my fellow poets and fiction writers.

It is interesting to me that my brother, also a poet and writer, died from complications of his alcoholism. Sadly, one of his exes destroyed all of his work. Glad I gave up the sauce at an early age.

It may be true that a lot of poets and writers of fiction hole themselves up with their worries and their work, but a lot of us, myself included, enjoy nature and find a lot of inspiration in the world that surrounds us all. In fact, I really enjoy it when I hear a little catch of a conversation whilst dining out or taking a walk and that triggers the idea for a whole new story, scene for a story, or an entire poem.

However it is through introspection that the worlds that writers and poets build are born. Life is, after all, a series of emotional ups and downs. I think it's who you take along with you on this roller coaster ride called Life that matters. For me and the house (or world) my stories have built, I think I'll continue to invite the Lord to sit alongside me. At least if the darn thing goes flying off the rails I'll already be with my Maker.
